Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how SpellingBeeWord.com ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with our website at spellingbeeword.com (the "Website") and our Spelling Bee Word iOS application (the "App") — together, the "Services." We designed our Services to collect as little information as possible, especially from children.
Summary
- We do not require accounts, and we never ask children for personal information.
- All spelling practice data in the App is stored locally on your device.
- The App contains no third-party advertising.
- Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Information We Collect
In the App
The App does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other contact information. A profile name entered in the App (for example, a child's first name) is stored only on the device and is never transmitted to us. Practice history, progress, streaks, badges, and custom word lists are likewise stored only on the device using Apple's on-device storage.
If you make a purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier and purchase receipt information (such as product identifier, purchase date, and subscription status). This identifier is not tied to your name or email address. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
On the Website
The Website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage (such as which pages are visited and for how long). This may involve cookies and collection of device information such as browser type and approximate location derived from IP address. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on or your browser's cookie controls.
If you contact us through our contact form, we receive the information you choose to provide (such as your email address and message) and use it only to respond to you.
Children's Privacy
Our Services are designed for use by students, including children under 13, and we take children's privacy seriously. The App does not collect personal information from children, does not include third-party advertising, and does not include links that take children outside the App without a parental gate where required. Purchases can only be made through Apple's payment system, which requires device-level authorization (such as a parent's Face ID, Touch ID, or password). If you believe a child has provided us personal information through the Website, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
How We Use Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services
- To validate purchases and deliver premium features you have paid for
- To respond to support requests
- To understand aggregate Website usage and improve content
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because App data is stored on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the App. Purchase records held by Apple are governed by Apple's privacy policy. Anonymous purchase records held by RevenueCat are retained as needed to maintain your subscription entitlements; you may request deletion by contacting us.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information handled. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but the limited, largely on-device design of our Services significantly reduces risk.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
